I was born to be a rockstar Got lost along the way Somewhere out beneath the clouds My mama calls my name I was born to be a rockstar It doesn't matter what they say Way off now beneath the clouds Your mama calls my name Check it out I was born to be a rockstar I can't say that it came true Somewhere out beneath the clouds There's a playlist for you too When you're born to be a rockstar Be careful what you do Somewhere out beneath the clouds Nobody even hears you Fa la la La la la la Nobody even hears you I was born to be a rockstar Got them Ray-Bans on my face Somewhere now beyond the clouds With billionaires in space I was born to be a rockstar I'm aware that's not the case Somewhere out beyond the clouds It's lonely here in space Fa la la La la la la Nobody even hears you Fa la la La la la Nobody even hears you

Enemies 03:54
Take a look in the mirror Don't you try to look away Who's that staring back at you? Don't you recognize the face? Take a look in the mirror Don't you try to look away Don't you Don't you You're not enemies You've got the new disease You're not anything at all You're just conditioned to believe in Enemies Nothing in the past Defines who you are today Life, it moves pretty fast Oh man, what'd Ferris Bueller say? Nothing in the past Defines who you are today Don't you Oh, won't you? You're not enemies You've got the new disease You're not anything at all You're just conditioned to believe in Enemies Who's your favorite troll? Mine lives underneath a bridge Tries collecting a toll But don't know what to do with it Man, I hate all these trolls It ain't ever gonna end Don't you Don't you? You're not enemies You've got the new disease You're not anything at all I'm not anything at all We're not enemies We've got the new disease We're not anything at all We're just conditioned to believe in Enemies Enemies

Woke up to the news today Another young white male lost his way Dip back in time to see Is it the left or the right who's pulling strings? Everyone has a part to play Are you the victim, blame or the prophecy? Maybe you sit back silently And watch everything burn on your TV Stop Breathe The weight of trying to live your life Will bring you to your knees All the time we waste is gone All the while, tomorrow's still a dream It's still a dream We're left to wonder what it means Straw men are here to stay Drop another million dollars on a new campaign Talking points are all the same There ain't a damn thing there for you or me Tell me how it's not insane Electing dumb motherfuckers based on a name Waiting on the world to change Just another lucky player at the big blame game Stop Breathe The weight of trying to live your life Will bring you to your knees All the time we waste is gone All the while, tomorrow's still a dream It's still a dream We're left to wonder what it means Stop Breathe The weight of trying to live your life Will bring you to your knees All the time we waste is gone All the while, tomorrow's still a dream It's still a dream We're left to wonder what it means

Price I Pay 04:32
I'm at a loss for words to explain Why I am how I am today Was it the chicken or the egg That gave rise to my misery When your world comes crashing down In the most catastrophic way Just 11 years old, all alone And don't know what to say I've had a lifetime filled with pain From something I can't even remember The way it pulses through my veins Makes every drug feel like a pretender I've been out here in the cold for so long I'm the new ice age I don't give a damn what you say anymore I can't fall from grace When everyone that you love Turns your love into a world of hate I hope there's no place left to hide Lord knows there ain't been one for me I've had a lifetime filled with pain From something I can't even remember The way it pulses through my veins Makes every drug feel like a pretender And every nerve is wrecked with shame From seeing nothing but a monster every day It's just the price I pay It's all coming to an end There's a sense in the air you can taste Judgment Day for us all Should be having to live this way When your world comes crashing down In the most catastrophic way Just 11 years old Fuck you I don't know what to say I've had a lifetime filled with pain From something I can't even remember The way it pulses through my veins Makes every drug feel like a pretender And every nerve is wrecked with shame From seeing nothing but a monster every day It's just the price I pay

about

Self-Help is an exercise in therapy, the idea being to tap into as much visceral energy available and pen a few songs about the things that are most troubling for the artist currently in terms of mental health. The opening track, "Born to Be a Rockstar," is a humble admission that the best laid plans in life can and will sometimes go sideways. "Enemies" is a churning, guitar- and synth-burner that rejects the idea that our society is comprised of two opposing sides destined to be enemies, while "What It Means" tackles the growing threat of political extremism, coloring the resulting despair many of us feel in dark, overdriven riffs before resolving to stop worrying and breathe. Closer, "Price I Pay," strikes perhaps the most personal note of all, detailing the devastating emotional fallout of childhood trauma, in its many forms, and the effects that linger into adulthood.
